AI Companion

AI Companion is Snipset's persistent local assistant that runs alongside the main window. It provides quick prompts, chat history, session management, and strict privacy controls.

Where to Find It

• Open the main Snipset window → AI Companion in the left sidebar (hardcoded label, not i18n).
• A floating companion window is also available via show_ai_chatbot_popup_cmd (the ai-chatbot overlay).

Features

• System Inventory (F-04) — Always-on context (80-token cap, trigram fallback) so the assistant knows your snippets, projects, and recent activity.
• Chat History & Sessions — History via get_chat_history_cmd / get_companion_sessions_cmd / get_ai_companion_sessions_cmd. Clear with clear_chat_history_cmd. Companion sessions can be exported via export_companion_session_cmd.
• Privacy Masks — Sensitive detector masks (ai_mask_entropy_threshold, ai_privacy_masking) before sending to Ollama. Toggle via ai_companion_mask_sensitive.
• Model Selection — Uses the Conversation model from Settings → AI & Models → AI Configuration. Web search grounding can be enabled for factual answers (DuckDuckGo/Tavily/Brave/SearXNG).

Shortcuts & Actions

• No default global hotkey; open via sidebar or the floating icon. All companion IPC is via chat_with_companion and streaming stream_ai_chat_cmd.
